Over 40 heritage buses and coaches
re-create the transport scene of the past
in and around Winchester
for both bus enthusiasts and local residents






ALL RIDES ARE FREE

   Celebrate the New Year with the chance to ride on heritage buses and coaches of the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s operating over the routes of former local bus companies King Alfred Motor Services, Hants & Dorset, Wilts & Dorset, Aldershot & District, and other independent operators.

    Routes serve all parts of Winchester, and out to the surrounding villages and towns.  Also coach tours and city bus tours.

Vehicle Display

A variety of buses and coaches will be on display at St Catherine’s Park & Ride,
served by a frequent shuttle bus service.
Travelling to Winchester

By feeder bus services  —  click here for times.

By train  —  Train services are running on New Year’s Day to Winchester station.  Buses to Broadway from the nearby City Road stop.

By car  —  Free parking at St Catherine’s Park & Ride or Chesil multi-storey.

By your own bus or coach  —  Bring it to the Vehicle Display:  see above.

Selling books, photos, models, and transport memorabilia.
The Guildhall will be selling teas and coffees in the Bazaar.

Demonstration of Flour Milling in the 1744 water mill.

St Cross
Hospital
England's oldest continuing almshouse, comprising a group of grade I listed medieval and Tudor buildings, including a medieval hall and tower, Tudor cloister, Norman church and gardens.

Twyford Waterworks
and
Hockley
Water Mill
Twyford Waterworks is a water pumping station built for Southampton Corporation in the early 1900s.  See the Hathorn-Davey triple expansion steam engine, limekilns, and industrial railway.
Hockley Mill on the River Itchen retains its original wooden machinery.
A circular bus service stops at the waterworks and the water mill.

Mid-Hants Railway

Steam and diesel trains operate between Alresford and Alton.
Bus and coach services run to Alresford Station.
