Membership Information

Members enjoy a programme of entertaining monthly evening meetings in Winchester usually on the second Saturday (except January when we have a rather large event!). In the summer months we take a bus or coach for an afternoon or evening drive.  When you join you will receive the current Broadway Bulletin, the newsletter of FoKAB, listing the  programme of meetings and a location map of the venue for meetings. You will also receive a warm welcome.

There are numerous opportunities during the year to take the vehicles to local shows, rallies and running days. We also run free bus services for other charities and non-profit organisations in the Winchester area. Sometimes we even go further afield.

Of course there is our unique running day in Winchester and central Hampshire. Held usually on New Year's Day, when there are very few other bus services running, we attempt to re-create the 1960's bus and coach services and the atmosphere of the period in sights, sounds and smells! Besides being conductors and drivers, other members volunteer for timetable sales, the FoKAB sales stand or the catering department. All help to generate the funds needed to finance the running day and the ongoing preservation of our vehicles.

Most Saturdays and Tuesday evenings you will find members repairing and renovating our vehicles. These are most important tasks and help will be welcomed however little time you able to give. Please indicate on the membership application of any skills you have which would help towards the continuing preservation of our vehicles.

After one year's membership you can train as a conductor. If you hold a PCV, after a qualifying period you can be considered for driving duties, subject to type testing and insurance requirements.

The Broadway Bulletin is published bi-monthly informing members of meetings and the various events, which we are attending with a vehicle, or vehicles, plus other bus-related articles. The 'Central Works Update' section keeps members informed of the progress on the restoration projects and the programme of MOTs.

Membership only costs £12* per year. The first year can be up to 13 months as we include the month you join. If you are a taxpayer, by signing the Gift Aid declaration your subscription can be worth an extra £2.80. As we are a charity we are able to reclaim the tax you have paid on your subscription and any donations you make.
